December Photo A Day, Days 17-19 - Tree, Big and 'Tis The Season To

Day 17 - Tree

Can you tell this is a tree?

Every time we have an ice storm, there are two willowy trees in front of my apartment that bend completely to the ground with the weight of the ice.

When the ice melts, the trees stand back up.

What looks like Christmas lights up there is actually the setting sun behind me glinting off the branches.

Day 18 - Big

I begged Chelsea to help me with this one.

We decided our kitty was pretty big (!), so Chelsea grabbed her and went and took a picture.

Then we laughed hysterically at the expression on my poor kitty's face.

My cat's big, right?!?!

She was just a kitten when I got her, and then she grew and grew and grew. For YEARS, she kept growing. She's apparently a Maine Coone mix, they're the ones who keep growing and get big and furry like that.

Day 19 - 'Tis The Season To

'Tis the season to GIVE.

Chelsea took this picture for me as well. This is one of our local Angel Trees. Instead of exchanging presents with people who have everything, you can take names from the Angel Tree.

This way your money and time goes toward purchasing clothes and toys for a child who may otherwise not have a Christmas at all.

DONE.

In other news, I'm trying my hardest to make it to January. That's when I get my days back and I can take a day off and just THINK.

The ability to stop time would be so handy. I want that.

    1. Yes!

Except Hermione was so brilliant and on top of things...I'd probably forget where and when I was and be out of sync and lost in the timeline forever.

      Actually that sounds okay.

      :)

  2. Dang. I cannot stop time either. But that is one great kick-ass photo of a tree you have there. Can't believe those aren't lights.

    1. Thank you! I know, right? The glowy branches are what made me stop to take pictures, but then when I looked at the pictures, I had to take another look and make sure they weren't lights! :)

    1. I think it's safe to say that your brother is a Maine Coone mix as well. :)

  5. The icebound willow tree is amazing and I love the fall of light on it - as you say, just like Christmas lights!
Aw Kitty's face!! She does not need any words to express what she is thinking! :)))
An angel tree? What a BRILLIANT and truly Christmassy idea!!

    1. The angel tree is one of my favorite things about Christmas...our community does it every year and so many children benefit from it. :)

    1. Sometimes I'm not sure...she is really tall, and when I toss her a treat she catches it in midair. She kind of terrifies everyone but me, LOL!

    1. Ooh, a delorean! Just think of the damage I could do with one of these! But I don't really drive anymore...I guess I don't need to, I just need an empty parking lot and a flux capacitor and I'm good! :)

  8. Oh my goodness, I SO miss beautiful winter vistas. That tree is amazing. And the cat? Oh my. Amazing! I love the angel tree tradition. It's one of our favorites, and I applaud the people who put in the effort and time to pull all the information together.

  10. We have ice here, too. It is pretty, as long as you don't actually have to go anywhere.

    1. I know! That's the worst part...we can't just stay inside and enjoy the beautiful weather, it's so unfair! :)

  11. Love both the cat and the tree photos! We are at the tail end of a rather nasty ice storm...but our trees look beautiful.

And my best kitty is now a whopping 17 pounds...but he is a shorthair so he wears it well!

    1. Oh, ice storms, they make nature look beautiful! They're just terrible on power lines and the rest of civilization, though, LOL!
17 pounds, aww! They're so much better when they're cuddly like that! :)
