All I know is everything's going to be alright...

I was doing my best to catch up on everyone's blogs, but, as usual, life got in my way.

Most of the time, I can ignore life and keep on doing my thing, but this time, there was no ignoring it, because it was Dwayne.

Anyway, he's been in the hospital for a week now, and unless they lied, he should be coming home tomorrow.

So that's why I dropped off the radar...I've been at the hospital.

He's doing better. The doctors are still not sure what happened to him, but they were all fascinated by whatever it was. They stopped all his medicine, and all his symptoms stopped, so they figured it must be his medicine that caused it.

There's a lot more to the story, and I know I'm not explaining it well...maybe more tomorrow? I think I'm going to sleep in my own bed tonight for the first time in a week and see how it goes.

And yeah, the Ambien has kicked in. Goodnight!!! :)

  1. Yes, just relax, everything is going to be alright :) Sometimes doctors do that suspecting medicine interactions and drug fever, things like that.
That is true, so many health probs, lot of symptoms, large number of specialists,
handful of medicines - one or two for each symptom...and when you stop all medicines and let the body and mind's defence take over letting nature to cure...
He is going to be alright :) Saying a prayer, God bless !
He is in the capable hands of experienced doctors, I hope. So relax, Michelle :)

    1. Thank you, Raj!
I want so much for both of us to be completely off medicine...I think natural remedies would be better but they're not commonly known anymore.

  2. It's time to make the proverbial donuts, so I can't page back, but what happened to him? You haven't said, right?

    1. Still don't know! Dwayne is referring to it now as 'a stroke that wasn't a stroke' because that's what his symptoms were kind of like. His speech changed, he had uncontrollable tremors and shaking, hallucination-type things...it was the scariest thing ever.

    2. Any Dwayne updates?

    3. Hi Susie!, Well he's home, but he is still restricted from driving, physical therapy is helping a lot, the problem is he's still having these tremors and no one can figure out why...

  3. I'm so sorry to hear about Dwayne. I'll keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. I'm glad he's doing better, whatever the heck was going on. Those blasted meds can do a number on us. Sleep well, my friend!

    1. Thank you!! The doctors think it was the Enbrel that he's been taking for years that did it; but he was also extremely dehydrated. I don't know...he's much better now, but what worries me is that his speech is still not completely back to the way it was. I'm feeling a little violent right now towards pharmaceutical companies and/or incompetent doctors who prescribe something for years and years...

  4. Hope all is well with Dwayne!! Hope he gets to come home today. Do the doctors have any theories at all?

    1. His posse of doctors never did come up with a solid answer, can you believe that? Where's Dr. House when you need him!? Their main theory is the Enbrel injections are what caused it. They gave him two MRIs, an EEG, and a dozen other tests, including a lumbar puncture (!), and everything came back okay.

  5. Yuck to germy hospitals, glad he will be out. Medication is just as bad as the disease lots of times.

    1. It really is! The Enbrel, which are the injection shots that the doctors say caused this, are for Dwayne's arthritis, and he's been taking them for years. So what's really bad is that they've obviously stopped working a long time ago, since he's now in a wheelchair. Frustrating!

  6. I had some rough moments with my mom's health last month, so I know how this goes, unfortunately.

    1. Tony, I'm sorry to hear that about your mom. My grandpa is in bad health, too, in a place across town. He'll hopefully get to come home this weekend. Dwayne called him this week when he finally 'woke up', it was pretty funny, Dwayne calling my grandpa across town in his hospital room, from his own hospital room downtown.

Wow. Honey, that's frightening. The two of you are in my prayers and thoughts.

    1. Thank you so much, Suze...it's really been so scary. The worst thing was not being able to talk to him during those scary moments - he's the person I turn to for everything, but he wasn't available for this. You just don't realize how much you depend on your best friend and soul mate...

    1. It really is! He is home today, with therapy coming to visit to work with him on moving around and also his speech. But he is so much better now than last week. :)

  11. Ugh.

Hopefully they will find a new combination of drugs for him quickly.

    1. I hope!, the good thing is that a new rheumatologist came to see him while we're in the hospital still and he has an appointment next week; and also, he now has a whole neurology team who is fascinated by his brain and whatever happened with it this week. :)

  12. Yikes! I haven't seen your face around the blogosphere for a bit, so I though I'd stop in and see what's been happening. I sincerely hope his symptoms have cleared up and that the doctors have been able to figure things out.

    1. Thank you Crystal! I am missing everybody! The doctors haven't figured out a thing, they 'think' one of his medicines caused it. He's doing much better now, but now there's so many other things he can't do any more...I will be writing it up an entry as soon as I can get it all straight, it's just been crazy!
