Blueberry candles...

I went to the doctor yesterday...again...this time specifically for my migraines.  He asked me how I was doing with the Topamax he gave me last week.
Oh.
You know, I vaguely remembered him giving me that sample packet, and a prescription, and saying it would help my headaches...but what I really heard was that it would make me sleepy, so, I didn't take it.  Didn't even think about it anymore.
Turns out that was the wrong move.
My doctor very gently explained why I start taking minimal doses...at bedtime...for that very reason...etc., etc.
I humbly agreed to take the medicine he prescribes for me from now on.  I also now have to take some kind of blood pressure medicine, along with 800 mg Ibuprofen as needed, along with the happy medicine I was already taking.  Five different medicines in all...I don't think I'm THAT sick, actually, I just think he likes to write prescriptions.
I lit a blueberry candle when I got home from work ... that was about six p.m.  I've moved it from the living room into my bedroom, and I'm looking at it now.  For some reason it's just really calmed and contented me all evening...I don't know if it's because of the smell, or if it's because I lit it.
I have to go to bed now and I hate to blow it out.  Blueberry candles, what an epiphany...

  1. I love Blueberry scented candles!!!  Ummmm yummmy!  Candles are so relaxing...watch it some more and then blow it out!  There's always tomorrow....good for headaches ( low light and soothing)!  I suffer from debilitating migraines and nothing but narcotics help mine.  I hope this medicine works for you.  If not, let me know as my best friend is also a migraine sufferer and is a wealth of information when it comes to suggestions on how to relieve them!!!!

  2. I like blueberry candles.....they smell vaguely like breakfast, but mostly they just relax me.  Try your medications, as prescribed, for a month - if you don't feel better, talk to him about an adjustment.  I don't like having a boatload of prescriptions either, but.......if they help, they help, right?

I love your writing, too :)

  6. I love candles too. But with the kiddies, it's just not the same when they high out of reach.

I hope you get the meds worked out...

  7. I was afraid you were going to say the candle gave you a headache.  If I have a candle with a scent that does not go over well, it gives me a headache.  That is why I avoid the perfume counter at the stores.  Have you seen SpongeBob Squarepants?  The episode that Spongebob and Patrick has to pass through the perfume section to get off of the ghost Davy Jones ship. ROTFLMAO!
Okay seriously, you better take your medicine.  Now what did I do with that bottle of...............
