It won't be long before my turn is next...

Have y'all taken this little quiz up there?

I've taken it three times (the questions aren't always the same), and each time, my top answer says I'm from LOUISVILLE.

This freaks me out just a tiny little bit...that I can be so easily profiled! Like on Criminal Minds...not that I'm a serial killer or anything, but still!

It does remind me of 5 or 6 years ago, when my family and I were doing Derby Day at the Whirlaway Room at Trackside. Our server for the day was so sweet, and at one point she said something like, 'I'm going on break, do you'uns need anything right now?'

YOU'UNS.

The only people I've ever heard say that is my great-grandmother and great-aunt...I looked at her and said, are you from down near Eastern Kentucky, like from London, Kentucky, maybe?

OMG I freaked her out so bad she almost had to sit down...I sent over to my grandma's table to see if they were related, everyone from down there is related. Everything you've heard about Appalachia is true.

G'night!

:)

Darkness? ...

or, as the name of the Douglas Adams book: "The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul"...
Suddenly there's secrets back in my life, and I don't like it at all...I had secrets from long ago, of course...things I did when I was young and stupid that I wouldn't want discussed and that the people who know me today would never believe of me anyway.  But since I became, you know, a grown-up...or so I thought...I thought I'd be living my life without the need for deception.  Wrong!
And I'm so !#$%^ tired it's hard to identify exactly where things have gone wrong so I can fix the problem...I definitely need a clear head for this one!
I don't know if it's secrets exactly...maybe distance, or a wall...I need sleep to figure it out...or maybe lack of sleep is the cause of the problem!
I bought my daughter's medicine again...because it was so close to the last time, the insurance wouldn't pay for it even though I explained we lost it.  So I had to pay for it in full...$120+...I'm keeping it under lock and key!  Very expensive, but well worth it.  She's doing wonderful at school and at home now...she's doing things like carrying on conversations with people, and studying and doing homework, stuff she just wasn't capable of before.  I feel so dumb for not realizing sooner that her other medicine had stopped working.  Dumb...
Every night I walk outside and I wish that I could see more than just the handful of stars that we see...it's always followed by the thought that there are those who've never left the city and have never seen the REAL night sky, alive with stars and dominated by the Milky Way...those of us who know it's there, even if we can't always see it, are very lucky...
Beauty like that stays in our hearts and our minds, even when we don't physically see it anymore.
Last thing tonight! or rather, this morning! Quiz I found in Angel's journal, which was first in Anna's journal...

Your inner soul is calling for help!  You always seems so depressed, lonely, and feel like an outsider.  You may have a cold, sad exterior, but in all reality you are hurt inside and are bottling up all of your anger.  Everyday you wonder why are you still here when there is nothing left?  You used to once be a happy, loving soul, but it was damaged by 'them' and seems like it never can be fixed again.  However, you have yet seemed to realize that there are people out there that deeply care for you.  They secretly have a thing for you because they find you to be dark, mysterious, and full of secrets, not to mention being the prettiest person in the world!  You like to enjoy your time by yourself expressing your feelings through forms of art, and enjoy nice quiet sceneries that just dazzle your mind with awe.  Your bedroom is basically your sanctuary where you can hide out, hidden from those who gave you all of the pain.  Try to loosen up and have some fun!  Never start frowning because you never know who's falling in love with your smile :)

Just taking up space...

I cleaned my desk off...(HUGE MOMENTOUS EVENT)...it looks really pretty...it's been a long time since I've seen the surface of it, you know?
I actually did a sort-of overhaul to try to make room for more books in here...It didn't really work.  I have limited space (a VERY small house) so I'm constantly trying to weed out my books to make room for new ones.  The problem is, I usually don't buy a book unless it's something I plan on keeping, so, invariably, more comes in than goes out.
The class I'm taking this semester (Radical Fiction) is taught by the same guy I had last year...and the first two books he's having us read are the same ones he made us read last time: Jack London's The Iron Heel (great book, I kept this one) and Emma Goldman's Anarchism and Other Essays.  I'm not an Emma Goldman fan, so she was in the Salvation Army bag ready to go when I first went to the class this week...thank goodness they hadn't picked up yet, I saved $$$...the moral is you should keep ALL books and just rent a warehouse to keep the excess.  Wouldn't that be awesome?
Update on daughter's ear:  Went to the doctor this week and he took the wick out with a skinny tweezer type thing...my daughter was very VERY nervous and scared, and this nurse didn't help: "Why are you here today?", and then, "Oh my goodness, that is terrible, I've never heard of this happening!"  What kind of nurse says something alarming like this in front of a child?
Doctor said to keep giving her the antibiotic eardrops until they're gone, as ear is still not better...her ear has gotten more and more swollen every day this week...I'm going to stop now because it's depressing me even more to write about this...I've latched on to January 24th as THE DAY that all of our problems will be solved!
Here's my results to this quiz, I thought it was pretty funny and accurate:

Why are these quizzes so disconcerting?

Picture from Hometown You have Purple Wings! Lost and Confused, when your wings are purple, it's difficult to see ahead because the fog is clouding your vision. You can never decide easily, and even the simplest choices are difficult to take. A quiet, kind person, you have a very sharp mind and can do anything if you set your mind to it. But something probably very sad happened in your life, and now, you question anything. Lost in your trance and afraid to peek outside your box, right now your life is very frustrating. But, don't forget this very important thing: Purple is made from blue and red, and with just a little bit of pushing, you can go back. What color are your wings? brought to you by Quizilla (Thanks to Angel and Danielle, for the link...)

  You are...GILES

What is a Time Mage?

What type of mage are you?
You are the time mage: You have a second site that allows you to see situations from a point of view that others cannot. Although you can't exactly "see the future" you can predict the outcomes of certain situations better than most.

VICE: You tend to be detached or unemotional. You also have a problem with understanding specific viewpoints because you can see a bigger picture than most people.
Most of this is pretty accurate, but...are detached and unemotional the same thing?
The unemotional thing is way off base, of course...I cry too much, for one thing.  But detachment is something else.  When something is too painful to bear, I think I do detach.  Doesn't everybody?  I hope?  You can't stay detached forever, but it's a very good defense mechanism until you're ready to join life again.  I think I've jumped back in, though, haven't I?
I can't believe I'm questioning my life now over the results of a quiz!  I'll have to think about this more...
