Happy 15th, Hubble...

Monday Photo Shoot: Hubble's 15th Birthday:

Finally one I can do! Space geek that I am, I don't even need to look for any Hubble shots because I already have my favorites on my computer...and my very favorite is one that I've posted here before:
At the time this was taken, it was the furthest glimpse into deep space that we had ever seen...space so far away, and so long ago...
It boggles the mind...

  10. OMG,, I agree about this being a favorite.  I remember the first time I seen this picture,, I was pretty uninformed about the Hubble and out of boredom I watched a documentary about it.  When they showed this shot and explained it was not stars I was seeing,, but distant galaxies,, I got chills.   WOW,, so very awesome.  No way in heck we are the only civilization.

  11. With every generation comes a new admiration of the unknown. The newest generation is only the beginning of the biggest endeavor into the unknown. This is the unknown and that's what brings such wonder and curiosity to everyone's mind

  12. No comments can do this justice.  They should call it the "Humble Telescope".  If my memory serves me correctly, this shot is is of a piece of the sky about 1/30th of the moons diameter.  I think there are about 1000 galaxies counted (estimated?) in this photograph which is from the darkest part of the sky they could find.

  20. Space is the final frontier full of mystery and unexplored regions waiting for those future space explorers and colonists to open the door to new worlds and things beyond our imagination.  I love looking at all the photos from Hubble's space exploration and imagine what matter lies beyond the obvious that can be seen with the naked eye.

  23. WE HAVE TO COME TOGETHER AS THE HUMAN RACE AND GET OUT THERE AND EXPLORE. PUT ASIDE OUR DIFFERENCES, WORK TOGETHER AND SOLVE THE MYSTERIES GOD HAS PUT BEFORE US. PERHAPS THAT IS THE REASON WE ARE HERE AS INTELLEGENT BEINGS.WHEN YOU SEE A PICTURE LIKE THIS ONE HAS TO REALIZE WE WERE MENT FOR GREATER THINGS.
