On Congress, concerts and hair...

It's just a thought...but it occurred to me that maybe, just maybe, some members of Congress might be a little out of touch with what it's like to be, um, normal.

Okay, no jokes about me not being normal! Haha, I get that a lot. You KNOW what I mean.

By not passing the spending bill, my friend Lorie, who works for the Census, will not get her paycheck. She's like most of us - she lives week to week.

She can file for unemployment...by going to the government because she's laid off by the government. This is bureaucracy at its finest.

And revoking the healthcare bill? Now? My insurance has already gone up due to the healthcare bill. Astronomically so. It's a done deal. Is Congress TRYING to make things worse for me?

Not to mention Dwayne, who has no insurance, is laid off from his job, is in a wheelchair, and has a pre-existing condition, thereby making it impossible for him to get insurance. He has been looking forward to the magic date of October 1 for months.

(sigh) One last thing... I guess CONGRESS is too busy to watch the National Zoo pandas every night like all us normal people. Just one more thing they've taken away from me...

RANT OVER.

In other news:

1. I got my Patty Griffin tickets. Oct.15, Brown Theater. I am a very happy girl.

2. I spontaneously decided to go with my mom yesterday to get my hair cut. For the first time in ten years, I stepped into a salon. They cut five inches off and layered it. I was devastated.

3. No one else could even tell I'd gotten it cut.

4. Dwayne said something like, 'Ten feet of hair with five inches cut off is still ten feet of hair.'

5. Dwayne is very wise.

That is all.

    1. He really is. He keeps me laughing. I don't know how he keeps his sense of humor with the constant pain he lives with. He's awesome.

  2. Unfortunately there is an element of congress that feeds off human frustration and cynicism, like unnecessary traffic lights. It took a month or two to work out in 1995 --pretty much the same story back then.

    1. Yeah, I figure at least six weeks. I really think they have no sense of reality and how their actions affect normal people. I'm sad.

  3. Five inches of hair is no joke! I did that a few years ago and felt like a new woman.

    1. My head feels lighter! I just can't get used to looking in the mirror, because the layers she cut off also took the weight off my curls and I'm back to looking like a poodle. Or maybe cocker spaniel.
It is growing on me though.

  4. Congress are idiots by far, need to hit them, just a little, with a car lol or cover them in tar. 10ft of hair, damn, could start your own wig company

    1. Cover them in tar...what an arresting image, I like it. I like it a lot.
LOL Dwayne was exaggerating just a little about my hair...he gets frustrated because it always gets in his way. It has like its own zip code, especially on humid days. :)

  5. Dwayne is very wise, but then he also doesn't understand the power that comes from a curtain of hair. So I would listen to Dwayne and secretly honor that feeling of nakedness the missing five inches has inspired. I get you, babe.

As for Congress, your rant--if you wish to call it that, you were quite civil and reasonable--is warranted. I want to wake up one day and not grieve the asinine postures of our leaders. Today is not that day.

  6. Thank you so much! You are so right, I forget that sometimes it's okay to feel what I'm feeling. :)

The problem with most elected officials is that the only ones who want to run for office are ones we don't really want to vote for.
