30 Songs in 30 Days, Day 4 - A song that makes you sad

Top of the World - Patty Griffin

Brilliantly timed, this Day 4 request is.

Most Patty Griffin songs break my heart, especially this one.

Her voice filled the theater last night and held each of us spellbound; nobody moved an inch when she stood on stage, all by herself, and sang this song. Quite a few of us had to wipe tears away when she was done.

BONUS:

Here's my picture from the balcony last night, when she and her three musicians first came out:

  1. Catching up, here--wow! So cool that you're doing the challenge and were able to tie it in with such a great concert experience.

    1. I know! I'm a little concerned that I committed to 30 days AND there's a few categories I'm not sure of... I decided to worry about it later, lol.

  2. A song that makes me sad? Without hesitation, Mary Hopkin - "Those Were the Days".

    1. I don't think there was a bad seat in the place. First time I've ever been there, it is beautiful!

  5. I love the album cover. Is that what they're called these days? I like her look. She's 49. Pretty voice.

    1. I do too...I know exactly what you mean. And her voice, oh my gosh...you just can't believe this powerful beautiful voice is coming out of this tiny person.

  6. Nice choice. My initial thought was the Carpenters song which does, in fact, make me sad but for entirely aesthetic reasons.

    1. I love that song by The Carpenters and also the Skeeter Davis version. Just remembering The Carpenters makes me so sad...Karen Carpenter had the sweetest voice.
