My favorite albums are ones that I can listen to over and over and they never get old. I don't have to skip any songs because they're all perfect.
U2-The Joshua Tree
Nirvana-Unplugged in New York
Mumford&Sons-Babel
Jeff Buckley's Grace falls into this category.
Grace really changed the way I looked at music. I love it when that happens.
I love this song, what a haunting voice Jeff Buckley had.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good way to describe it, just beautiful.
DeleteI am not very familiar with this album. I need to familiarize myself!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, you won't regret it!
DeleteLove Jeff Buckley :3 My fave of his is 'Lover, You Should've Come Over', although Grace is completely perfect. I love every song on that album.
ReplyDeleteXo
That's a good song too! And Lilac Wine, and Last Goodbye... Yes, it is the perfect album. Love it!
DeleteA good version, there has to be like 50 versions of this one out there
ReplyDeleteAll the ones you hear are takes on Buckley's 1994 version of the original by Leonard Cohen. Jeff Buckley is who made the song what it is today.
DeleteHe died too young, in Memphis, in 1997.
Definitely a favorite. :)
ReplyDeleteI always wonder, what if I had never discovered this artist, or that artist? I can't imagine a musical landscape without Jeff Buckley.
DeleteAn excellent selection, Mitch. I have always loved this song. And such an appropriate album title for this blog.
ReplyDeleteI know! So cool how that worked out!
DeleteHadn't heard of this accomplished musician before. But the name, tenor range --had to check. My gosh, he looked and sounded so much like his father, who was one of my favorite poet-singers in the 60s. I sure learn here.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm always learning from you, Geo., since I didn't know that about his father... So interesting. One of the many awesome things about blogging. :)
DeleteEmbarrassed to say that I don't know Jeff Buckley, but this is a gorgeous sounding video.
ReplyDeleteI am married to a musician. I hardly ever listen to other music & I think that should probably change sometime soon.
It's never too late to add new music to your listening experience, lol! It seems I'm always discovering new TO ME artists who have been around forever, and I'm like, why didn't someone tell me about this?! :)
DeleteI feel the same way and I really do listen to them over and over.
ReplyDeleteMe too...for all the thousands of songs on my iPod, it's just a few favorites that I tend to listen to every day. :)
DeleteWell, you mentioned one of my favorite bands - Nirvana. I remember when they first came out. I was so impressed by them!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I wonder if we'll ever know the full effects of their impact on music. They changed everything.
DeletePretty.
