Midnight Train to Georgia - Gladys Knight and the Pips
Because while Gladys Knight is belting the song out, I am very happily singing along in the background as a PIP. Don't you?!!! Haven't you memorized all the parts to sing along back to Gladys?
If you haven't, you need to. IT'S FUN.
Now I gotta go, BECAUSE I AM AT THE BROWN THEATER IN DOWNTOWN LOUISVILLE TO SEE PATTY GRIFFIN IN CONCERT AND THE SHOW STARTS IN TWO MINUTES!!!
They are fun in the background indeed, can't say I know the words to this one though
ReplyDeleteThey are so much fun...still plenty of time to learn! LOL
DeleteI thoroughly envy you! And yes, I was instantly disenchanted with college in the '60s because there was no course of study that conformed with my major desire to become a Pip. Midnight Train To Georgia was one of the greatest recordings in history.
ReplyDeleteThe Pips are the greatest! Well, Empress Gladys is pretty awesome herself, LOL...
DeleteEnjoy the show!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I so enjoyed it! It was at a very small theater, and I think Mom and I were the first ones there, and we sat in the balcony, so it didn't bother me at all being around a bunch of people, because I didn't really see them. The only bad part was when we left and walked the wrong way out.
DeleteBut yeah, the concert was awesome!
I hope you had fun at the concert my friend :)
ReplyDeleteI did, so much! Thank you!!!
DeleteI gotta try this on my blog...fun idea!
ReplyDeleteYou should!! It's great fun...but a total 30-day commitment!
DeleteMy wife has long harbored fantasies of being a Motown backup singer.
ReplyDeleteOn a similar but different note, I hear great things about the documentary "20 Feet from Stardom." I've not seen it myself but if you like up backup singers, you might check it out.
I just looked it up and wow, what awesome reviews that movie is getting! Thank you so much for telling me about it. I checked and it's not on Netflix, so I'm going to have to see if it can be rented. :)
