30 Songs in 30 Days, Day 24 - A song that you want to play at your funeral

Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies

If you don't already know about Flogging Molly, you should! They're just your average everyday Celtic punk band, based out of LA, with a red-haired Irishman for a lead singer. Buy their stuff!

Okay, now, funeral song...

Really?

Isn't this a little maudlin? A lot maudlin?

There's no way, in real life, that I would pick a song to play at my funeral. That's just weird.

But for the sake of the list, here you go:

  1. I'm not sure what song I would want played at my funeral. I think funerals are for the living so I'd let them pick.

  2. Nice song. When I depart, I'll check in to the hospital and not tell anyone. They'll look around, "I need lunch...where'd she go?"

    1. Michelle, how fast can you type? Fast, I bet.

    2. LOL, why?
Pretty fast, I think. Last time I tested at work was quite a few years ago, about 85 wpm.

  3. Yeah I agree, weird. I don't want a funeral anyway, burn me, stick me in a tin can then use me for kitty litter for all I care lol

    1. Kitty litter! That would be handy, that stuff is expensive. And heavy, LOL.

  4. As funeral songs go, this is a pretty groovy choice :)

  5. Okay. Strange thing I'm getting ready to type on this post about dying but here goes.

One of my best friends (recently divorced) has been having an affair with a married man for going on six years, now. For four of those years, I lent a sympathetic ear but grew increasingly grieved and uncomfortable at the static, destructive loop she was in. One Christmas, she wanted to buy him a guitar signed by a member of Flogging Molly off eBay and asked if she could deposit $400 in my account so that I could purchase it for her. I'll leave it to you to guess whether or not I did ...

There's my crazy comment on your post, my dear Mitch.

    1. I officially don't even know what to say. Except that the married cheater man who has been stringing your friend along for six years has good taste in music. But...wow.

  6. I love, love, love this song. I went to Ireland in September and was blessed with all sorts of Celtic music. You should check out Pulses of Tradition, a local County Cork group who sing, play and dance and they're funny as hell, too. I so wish they would tour the States. I think they'd make it big here.
